Not sure it's quite that simple. Poles for that height are going to be problematic to get on a bike and as for other fixings you're in the lap of the gods.
Could be worth a shot, but it seems a lot of money when you could ask for a pitch with shade.[/quote
Poles fitted together will give you around 1.2m high (break down into 3 section) which is fine for sitting, squatting, laying and hunchback impression and weight less than my camping chair. Details on one type here:-
http://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/hampton_ultralight_tent_pole_kit.html
For instance if several people had 2 poles and a tarp kits you could extend the shelter to size of the group..... or you could ask for pitch in the shade(sic) like this one taken 1 day ago around 6pm :-

The altitude is around 1000m, the campsite I stay on in July in the Pyrenees is at 1700m, and the heat isn't a problem - so in September, I'm hoping that this won't be an issue!! probably p*ss down

Quite a few seem very interested in tarps. You could go one further & look at Tipis. If everyone carried some part of the Tipi & fitted it together when at the site , it would'nt be a problem weight or space. They do cost a bit though . At the moment we are only managing 2 camping runs as a BCFr team. So would have to up that considerably to make a Tipi worth while....... Just to update from the Noirmoutiers camping trip. I have fixed the rod I snaped & now got a decent blow up matress that manages to stay inflated. I need to carry U/L petrol in my luggage for the stove, any suggestions for the container , only need to carry upto 2 ltrs. Must be safe .

The tarp arrived today so thought I've have a go at making a shelter in preparation for this weekend trip. Pictures show it folded in half, probably ok for 2 -3 people like this:-
and packs down to (minus the bottle):-

Enjoy this weekend, I wish I could be with you.

I've got one of those Siggs, had it full of petrol for years and it's still fine.
On the other hand I bought a similar bottle cheap in one of the supermarkets thinking it would also be okay. After about a week the screw cap completely distorted and it was useless. I'm not saying that they will all be like that, but just be aware.

This raises a number of difficult questions:
Who's going to bring the herd of buffalo?
How will Snorkel ride along in his feathered head-dress?
Will there be too many chiefs and not enough indians?
Are you taking any squaws, or will you win them in battle along the way?
Where will you bury the hatchet?
This all needs sorting out before you ride off over the plains...
